In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was a legendary creature with the body of a man and the head of a bull. According to the myth, the Minotaur was the offspring of Pasiphae, the wife of Minos, and a snow-white bull sent to Minos by the god Poseidon as a sacrifice. However, instead of sacrificing the bull, Minos kept it alive. As a punishment, Poseidon made Pasiphae fall in love with it. Later, her child, half man half bull, was shut up in the Labyrinth, which had been created by Daedalus to hide the Minotaur from the world.
